Patterns

From the simple to the complex, students engaged in creating patterns using coins, wooden 3D shapes and colourful 2D shapes. As they made the patterns, one way they used to check their work was to read the patterns out loud. Doing so helped them to hear themselves and more importantly, hear the rhythm they got into as they said it. Any mistakes in the pattern would sound misplaced and all the students were able to fix their own mistakes which was good.

What might you use to create patterns at home? Create some and take a picture to share if you can.
